Mission
MAHB’s back-to-back event of the year arrived with a bigger bang. The brief was to deliver two
events that speak to MAHB’s future-oriented outlook, while honoring its rich history and legacy.
With only a narrow window of transition between events, at the same venue no less, the stakes
remained high as ever as we accepted the challenge.
Approach
This year’s Concessionaires Conference (CC) sets its sight forward with a future-focused theme of “Elevating Performance, Driving Growth”, empowering MAHB’s concessionaires to navigate the future with insights, innovation and big ideas shaping the future of travel retail. To drive this theme across all activations, we conceptualised and crafted:
- AI-sketch booths to represent artistry and technological innovation
- A showcase of 4 artworks by local artists who embody the Malaysian spirit
- Individualised entry gifts including engravings to mark the momentous occasion for participants
By midday, the venue was seamlessly transformed to encapsulate a “Mythical Malaysia” for the Concessionaires Awards Night (CAN), inspired by Malaysia’s rich folklore to celebrate MAHB’s own legendary concessionaires. Blending mysticism with modern elegance, Mythical Malaysia is expressed by:
- Lavish floral arrangements and luxurious set designs dense with Malaysian forests vibes
- LED tunnel as an opening portal to the magical night ahead
- Custom sketch booths offering folkloric touches to accentuate attendees’ personalities
- Scent/apothecary chamber where attendees can craft their own alluring folklore-inspired potions
- Stately performances that carried the energy tunefully through the night
Impact
The dual CC & CAN 2025 event raised the bar again for travel retail events. By fusing both ends of MAHB’s visionary drive for the future and its deep past, into one present moment, meaningful themes and little touches coalesce into a lasting, transformative experience for retail travel professionals.
